We are off to the arboretum to wrap up our studies on trees this week. We will take our camera, hopefully we can get some good pictures (I need a new digital camera..wahhh).

Wednesday

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Soundtrack

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Soundtrack

This has become on of Sarah's favorite videos...go figure!

Tuesday

Robins

Nature Study with Sarah earlier.

Mom: Those birds are Robins.

Sarah: No THEY ARE NOT (indignant tone)...they are in our back yard, they are ours.

(Note: Robin is the little girl up the street) LOL...isn't that just too funny?

Monday

What's That Bug

What's That Bug

Since Christian has a fascination with all bugs(it must be a boy thing)...I thought I'd post this link.

Friday

Funny Books

Two very funny books that we've read this week (Sarah just loves them) is 'The Scrambled States of America' and 'Tick-Tock'...I have them on my side bar but just wanted to make a quick comment too.

This week the sound of the week was CK and the theme was clocks.

Oh yes...the video 'Hullaballoo Time' is GREAT also. Who knew that learning about clocks and telling time could be so much fun.

Saturday

Great Advice...

"-Very balanced meals made with fresh foods. Lessen/eliminate non-natural sugars and packaged. It's amazing how a child can become a demon just from something like red food coloring in a food.
-Plenty of sleep.
-Consistent routine.
-Lots of love and compassion.
-Serene environment, as much as possible (declutter your house).
-No TV.
-Get him outdoors and active every single day, even if it's raining. Being in nature, away from crowded places, is best, and a good way for him to de-stress and release the dissonance he absorbs from other people.
-Get him plenty of sunshine. 10-20 minutes of that daily sunshine should be without sun lotion.
-The outdoors, you will have to force, since he refuses to go anywhere. It is better than being in the home at all times. "

I did a search on tantrums and found this little gem. I think there is really great stuff here. Getting Sarah outside is going to be a problem like this person suggests...so she WILL have to be forced.

It might just be a phase...but it doesn't mean that it's all beyond my control...I can try to lessen it a little bit.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

ANGER MANAGEMENT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN

"A four-year-old child: At four a child will do anything if provoked. Kicking, spitting and even running away is often seen when the child does not get his way. While they need boundaries, the four-year-old enjoys pushing the limits. Verbal aggressiveness increases with four-year-old children by more name-calling.

A five-year-old child: Five-year-old children want to be "good" and would rather stay with what is comfortable than try new things. Children at this age often exhibit some tantrums and sulking when they become upset."

Ok...here's my reality...I struggle by. I so wish that I could have one of those 'loveliness' blogs...where everything is just perfect all around. But I'm figuring...since I enjoy blogging...and if I wait for 'perfection' to happen around here, there will NEVER be anything to write about...I might as well write about the 'strugles'. I guess that's MY niche in life...I'm a whiner...and I need an outlet...lol.

So as to the quote above...that just spoke to my most recent 'struggle'. Christian is not quite four yet, but what can I say...he's an advanced child...lol. I just need to change the 'kicking and spitting' for 'hitting, scratching and pulling sister's hair'. Yikes! Time outs don't seem to be helping at all here...arghhh.

Sarah on the other hand seems to have reverted back to her daily tantrums. We went for about a year free of tantrums and thought that they were done with...I NEVER expected for them to re-appear at FIVE! I've thinking that she may be overly tired and may actually be needing to have a nap in the afternoon again...maybe she's going through some growth spurt or something. I don't know...I'm at a loss here.`
