babies in tummies
Ok...I'm really in for it now...lol. I've been talking to Sarah about her adoption since the very beginning and part of the story goes something like this...'mommy's tummy is broken so you grew inside 'V's tummy until you were ready to come home'...she's been obsessed with this lately and talks about it all the time and you can just see the wheels turning. Until today she finally asked me 'mommy, your tummy was not working so I grew inside of V's tummy right?' right...'but...how did I get in there?' YIKES...I wasn't ready for that one...she's only four! So...'Jesus put you in there' came out. She seemed satisfied with that...I guess later on (hopefully, much, much later) we'll have to have a longer and much more difficult discussion in light of her own conception story. Prayers please.
I'm sure glad that we are homeschooling though and that these things are being left to me and not some teacher who doesn't have a clue of our situation.

Wiggles update
The Wiggles Home Page
Been pretty busy around here, but wanted to give a quick update on the concert Friday. Roy took the day off and had been telling the kids all day that we had a surprise for them. Sarah was really into wanting to know what it was...Christian...not so much...lol. She held off pretty good though the entire ride there until we got into Worcester and then she finally asked 'now, can you tell us what it is'...lol...so I gave in. She was so excited! Christian was napping at this time and didn't wake up until we got into the parking lot. So, he really had no idea what was going on. We had floor seats and they were on the last row of our section, so during the show at various times they would come down and mingel with the people and walk through the aisle right behind us. It was very cool...probably even more so for mommy then the kids...lol. Roy held Christian on his lap the entire time and he was just transfixed...he just couldn't believe what he was seeing right before his very eyes...lol.

The Handwriting on the Wall
A weary mother returned from the store,
Lugging groceries through the kitchen door.
Awaiting her arrival was her 8-year-old son,
Anxious to relate what his younger brother had done.
"While I was out playing and Dad was on a call,
T.J. took his crayons and wrote on the wall!
It's on the new paper you just hung in the den.
I told him you'd be mad at having to do it again."
She let out a moan and furrowed her brow,
"Where is your little brother right now?"
She emptied her arms and with a purposeful stride,
She marched to his closet where he had gone to hide.
She called his full name as she entered his room.
He trembled with fear--he knew that meant doom!
For the next ten minutes, she ranted and raved
About the expensive wallpaper and how she had saved.
Lamenting all the work it would take to repair,
She condemned his actions and total lack of care.
The more she scolded, the madder she got,
Then stomped from his room, totally distraught!
She headed for the den to confirm her fears.
When she saw the wall, her eyes flooded with tears.
The message she read pierced her soul with a dart.
It said, "I love Mommy," surrounded by a heart.
Well, the wallpaper remained, just as she found it,
With an empty picture frame hung to surround it.
A reminder to her, and indeed to all,
Take time to read the handwriting on the wall.

Wiggly Field Trip
We are off to see the Wiggles in a little while...concert in Worcester at 3PM. It is a surprise for the kids...I'm so excited...lol. This is our second concert...the first one was awesome and all the parents seemed to be having an even better time then the kids. Sarah was only one then and was totally amazed...this will be Christian's first time...I can't wait to see his expression.

A Heavenly Day
Catholic News Agency: "'Instead, heaven is the real goal of our earthly pilgrimage,' he stated. 'How different our days would be if they were guided by this perspective! This is what it was for the saints. Their lives witnessed that when one lives with one's heart constantly turned to heaven, earthly realities are lived in the proper proportion.'"
Week 1 Day 3 of Little Saints: today we focused on heaven and its beauty. "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Cor 2:9
Part of today's assignments was to decorate a picture of 'The Heavenly Jerusalem' with sparkly paints and beads...the kids did a great job and had a wonderful time. Then I explained to them that on this day we are celebrating the day that Mary went to heaven...what a wonderful day of rejoicing it must have been for her...to finally see her Son again.
Oh when the Saints go marching in...

God Loves Me
myCatholic.com Customizable Catholic Homepage: "Blessed be you, my God, for having created me!
 St. Clare"
Today was day 1 of pre-school. We are using Little Saints curriculum and the theme is 'God Loves Me'. What a beautiful reminder for mommy too.
We went through our assignments pretty quickly...we had it all done...story time, music time, art time (hand prints) within one hour. I guess I have to learn to set the pace myself instead of following their lead which is what I would normally do. Sarah had a blast and did incredibly well, including the interview questions at the end. Christian on the other hand probably wouldn't be ready for pre-school under 'normal' conditions...but I figure it will be good for him to take part in it now...I just have to remember to keep my expectations realistic.
After 'school' we went outside to blow bubbles and run around in the yard. It is a beautiful day here, and I could really sense the theme of day...God does indeed love me and has blessed me tremendously.

St. Edith Stein

O my God, fill my soul with holy joy, courage and strength to serve You. Enkindle Your love in me and then walk with me along the next stretch of road before me.

disciplining the will
Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
"Knowledge is in the mind, character is in the will. To pour knowledge into the mind of a child, without disciplining his will to goodness, is like putting a rifle into the hands of a child. Without education of the mind a child could be a stupid devil. With education of the mind, but without love of goodness, a child could grow up to be a clever devil."
Shown as an index of their thoughts and ideals? What caution they would exercise in their selection! And yet the example parents give their children will be that by which they will be judged on the Last Day."
Nurturing with encouragement, not discouragement!
